"CLIP College Hour Report #1"
Yesterday I went to a CLIP College Hour in S112. I listened to three presentations about Sexual Harassment, Domestic Violence, and Plagiarism. And then, we watched a video about a family. One day, the son was playing with his bear, and hit the bear. His grandfather asks him a question:" why did you hit your bear?" The boy's answer is so terrible. He says:" daddy hits mommy when she makes daddy mad." Finally, a nurse helps his mother to call 311 to solve the problem.
Sexual Harassment means those unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct. Sexual
Harassment is a behavior, it's harmful to people. Domestic Violence is a violent confrontation between family members involving physical harm, sexual assault, or fear of physical harm. The danger is real. Domestic Violence hurts all family members. Plagiarism means copying other's work or test.
According to this video and speech, I learned that if your family has a problem such as Domestic Violence and you want to help your family, don't be ashamed. Please call 311. There are people who can help you. Domestic Violence is a very serious problem! You should know that if you are a victim of Domestic Violence, you can get help, you are not alone. Remember 311.
In China, I heard much news about Sexual Harassment and Domestic Violence. Now, I will give you two examples. The first example is that when women take a bus or train, some scoundrels will touch their body. Women are afraid to do anything to protect themselves because they are afraid the scoundrels will hurt they. The second example regards family problems. As we know, it is impossible that each family is harmonious, especially stepfamilies. On day, I heard on the news, a stepmother hit a 7-year-old girl. I forget the reason, but the girl had done
something that her step mother didn't like. It's so terrible. Although the girl makes mistakes, her stepmother cannot hit her. Finally, Plagiarism happens in many countries. It happens in schools, companies and more. Especially in school, many students copy their classmate's homework or test. It is so bad. If students copy other's work, that means you are not real gaining knowledge. In my opinion, as a student, you must finish your work by yourself.
All in all, if you or your friends have some problems, like Sexual Harassment or Domestic Violence. Don't worry, you can find a organization to help you. And when it comes to work, you must do the work by yourself.

"Benefits in College"
Have you ever wanted to get a college degree faster, easier, and with more benefits? You can realize those programs. It is important for student’s future to have a college degree. Queensborough Community College is a college that gives students some programs with benefits. There are three programs we need to talk about Single Stop, ASAP and Career Path. Those are the programs that can help students get benefits.
There is a program that gives students free services. It’s called Single stop. First of all, Free and Quick benefits screening is a free service in Single Stop, and it including SNAP (Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program), Health insurance, children care, housing opportunities and safe link wireless. Secondly, financial counseling is another service in single stop program, and it can provide you with your credit reports, and tell you how to budget your money and assist with your financial goals. The last one is legal assistance. The services include housing, family law, consumer law, ;immigration and more. If we have any questions, we can go to library building, room 432-A or call 718-631-6347 to ask for help.
Everyone is eager to have a good job that interests you after you graduate. One interesting program is Career Path. Career Path is a program that can help you find jobs when you don’t have a job or you lose your job. After you graduate from college, if you don’t get work, Career Path is an organization that can help you to find jobs. There is some occupational training for you. In addition, if you graduate college and complete your major, but you aren’t interested in your major and you want to choose another career, you also can contact Career Path to get some information about this. If you want to get more information and you are interested in Career Path, you can go www.careerpath.org to know more details.
Another program I learned about was ASAP. ASAP stands for accelerated study in associate programs. ASAP has many benefits for
students. For example, it can provide assistance with career counseling. You don’t have to pay the tuition when you take summer or winter courses, and you can get free metro cards during the academic year. There are some requirements when you join ASAP. You must be a NYC resident; you should agree to study full-time. Nursing and early childhood education majors are not eligible. Of course, you can go to www.qcc.cuny.edu/asap or call 718-631-6680 to get more information. If you want to graduate college earlier, ASAP is a program that can help you to do that.
Students can choose the benefits that are suitable for themselves. If you want to know some free services, you can choose the Single Stop program. If you want to know more about jobs, you can choose Career Path. Finally, if you want to know the benefits about the college
degrees, you can choose ASAP. Those are the programs that can help us to get some information and more benefits in student’s life.

"Class Visit"
Many days ago, I have chance to visit the college class. I visited the Math 10 class, and the professor was Poyser. She is a nice teacher. The class was located in "M" building. Although the building was easy to find, the classroom was difficult to find. The class has began at 10:00 a.m. and it has ended at 11:45 a.m. The topic of the class was Verbal Problem. I think it's easy to understand. I learned a new way to solve the math problems. In my opinion, if I want to get an A in the class, I need to pay more attention in class, review and finish homework on time. I want to recommend this professor to my friends because she is very nice, and she uses a good strategy to solve math problems.
